United States
Corinne Chin is an Emmy-winning journalist and newsroom leader with a proven record of identifying and developing diverse talent on a global scale. As Director of Video Talent at The New York Times, she leads recruitment and development as the newsroom continues to expand its video journalism across the depth and breadth of the report: producing on-the-ground reporting, pioneering Visual Investigations and video podcasts that showcase the expertise of Times journalists.
She was previously the Director of News Talent for recruitment at The Associated Press, where she led newsroom hiring, oversaw the Global News Internship Program and designed training and development initiatives to support the next generation of AP leaders.
Before moving into leadership, Corinne built her career as a video journalist and producer at AP, The Seattle Times and CNN, publishing award-winning documentaries and digital video stories recognized by the Emmys, Pictures of the Year International, Edward R. Murrow Awards, Society for News Design, Online News Association, Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and Seattle Asian American Film Festival. She has also served as a contest judge for the OJAs, POYI, CPOY and the Society for News Design. Her reporting has taken her around the world, from Nairobi to Rio de Janeiro to Ciudad Juárez, and her experience in the field continues to shape the way she mentors, recruits and supports journalists today.
Deeply committed to equity and inclusion, Corinne has developed newsroom diversity initiatives, delivered trauma-informed safety training and spoken at major journalism conferences. She is a graduate of leadership programs through Poynter, the News Leaders Association (ASNE), the Maynard Institute and the International Women’s Media Foundation, and she pays those lessons forward through regular teaching and mentorship for Report for America, Next Gen Journalism and the Asian American Journalists Association.
Corinne is available for public speaking and training on video storytelling, career development, leading through influence, covering civil unrest, digital security and the importance of representation and belonging.
