This project was coordinated by Katie Hawkins-Gaar, who runs Poynter's Leadership Academy for Women in Digital Media. Katie is working freelance and figuring out what's next in life. In the meantime, she's available for in-depth coaching and consulting work, or whatever exciting project you'd like to collaborate on.
Katie previously was the Digital Innovation Faculty at Poynter, where she founded The Cohort, a newsletter dedicated to women kicking ass in digital media, and co-founded 40 Better Hours, a project to improve newsroom culture. Prior to Poynter, she was the editor of CNN iReport, overseeing a team of producers responsible for soliciting and verifying audience-submitted news. She serves on the advisory board for the Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism, and writes a weekly newsletter called My Sweet Dumb Brain. Katie has lots of public speaking and teaching experience; is passionate about improving workplace culture and boosting morale; and is a pro at leading productive brainstorm sessions. She's always eager to help with projects that involve women in the workplace.
